About Us
I started Broca Speech because I believe access to high quality speech therapy should not end at discharge from rehab or the hospital.
My career as a speech-language pathologist has been spent in hospitals, walking alongside patients and families as they navigate various conditions that impact their speech, swallowing, and ability to think and interact with the world like they once did. I have my mother to thank for this.
Sometimes referred to as 'Sweet Little Sheila,' my mom knew no stranger, had a song for every occasion, and a smile for everyone she saw. When I was 22 years old, she was diagnosed with bulbar-onset ALS which quickly stole her ability to sing, talk, eat, and smile. It was because of her that I put the breaks on my career as an educator, returned to school, and earned my Master's degree at Harding University in speech-language pathology.
I understand that what may just be an hour of therapy to others is your entire life- so let's make the most of it, together.
